New Cornell Collaboration to set "Platinum Standard" in Patient Services
Over the last eight years, the Department of Neurological Surgery has forged several research collaborations with Cornell University, Ithaca Campus. Recently, it has ventured into a new and innovative direction to improve patient service - in fact, to set the "Platinum Standard" in patient care service.

Neurosurgical Laboratory for Stem Cell Research Receives NIH Grant
Dr. John A. Boockvar, Director of the Neurosurgical Laboratory for Stem Cell Research, has received a K08 grant from the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health. This $630,000 five-year grant is the first of its kind in the Department of Neurological Surgery and will support research into the cause of human brain tumors, as well as the relationship of brain tumor stem cells in the development and treatment of human brain tumors. Dr. Boockvar serves as Principal Investigator.
